Artifact: Strangler’s Sheets
Power: Significant.
Description: Old bedding, sometimes stained and often damaged.
Effect: Hundreds of people die each year entangled in their bedsheets, impaired or too young or old to extract themselves and smothering after a bad turn. Grotesquely, some adepts see this as opportunity and dumpster diving outside retirement homes and the homes of the bereaved yields them the deodands they use to make these.
Strangler’s sheets are dangerous when slept in, as soon as someone falls asleep they lurch to life with a Struggle of 40% and effective starting position halfway along the grappling gridiron. If it gets to the end it begins dealing damage as a normal unarmed attack. If there’s more than one person in the bed it only goes for the person who fell asleep first. Escaping its grasp breaks the effect, rendering the sheets inanimate.
If the victim dies from being strangled the sheets cling to them, wrapping around them like a mummy. Lurching to their feet it puppets the body with a single directive: the dying desire or regret of the person it killed the first time. The animated sheet-mummy has an effective ability of 25% to do anything it needs to roll for but won’t rest until it completes its task, is separated from its victim or completely obliterated.
