Unnatural Entity: Aetheric Remora

Specially cultivated by an Italian adept, Aetheric Remora are a perpetually juvenile form of astral parasite that have a more mutualistic relationship with their hosts. Instead of remorselessly battening themselves on someone’s positive abilities they can instead subsist on magickal energy. This cost comes out to a minor charge per week, if you can’t make it the Remora chows down on one of your positive abilities like a regular astral parasite. If this second option occurs enough to equal the ability (sending the host into a temporary coma) the Remora drops off and matures into an adult astral parasite.

The slow feed of magickal charges maintains the enchantment that keeps them from getting to this stage. It also cloaks the host from other parasites, the normal events and qualities that would draw their attention are absorbed by the Remora like an astral heat sink. No astral parasite can attach itself to a host so long as it is kept fed. Other intangible entities also have a difficult time interacting with the host, demons, revenants and the like are at a -30% shift to use their powers on one who is ponying up the weekly charge.

Long term hosts suffer no serious ill effects so long as they keep paying up, the worst of it is a tell-tale speckled pallor. Few understand its significance.
